Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible for your information

Emirates Wills (“we”, “us”) is responsible for the personal information described here. We follow the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). Contact us about privacy at hello@emirateswills.ae.

2. What we collect

About you

• Name, nationality, date of birth, emirate of residence, email and mobile number.
• Your faith, where needed to confirm which will registration route applies to you.
• Details of your assets, if you choose to name specific assets in your will.
• Copies of identity documents (passport, Emirates ID) and supporting documents, when you upload them.
• Your order and payment status. Card payments are processed by Ziina: we receive confirmation of payment, not your card number.

About other people

Your will names other people: your partner, children, guardians, executors and beneficiaries. We collect their names, relationship to you and, for children, dates of birth. Please only give us these details if you are entitled to, and let the adults named know that you have shared them with us for your will.

Partners

If you apply to our partner programme, we collect your name, contact details, company, website and what you tell us in your application, to review it and run the programme. If you order through a partner’s link or code, we record which partner referred you so we can pay their commission. Partners never see the contents of your will or your personal details.

Basic technical information needed to run the website securely, such as IP address and browser type in server logs. See our Cookie Policy for what is stored in your browser.

3. Why we use it

• To provide the service you ordered: drafting, translating and helping you register your will.
• To take payment and keep accounting records.
• To contact you about your order.
• To meet legal obligations and handle complaints or disputes.
• To keep the website secure and working properly.

We use your faith and identity documents only to prepare and register your will, with your explicit consent, which you give when you submit the questionnaire. We do not sell your information, and we do not use the contents of your will for marketing.

4. Who we share it with

• Our legal drafting partner, to prepare your will.
• Our certified translator, to prepare the Arabic version.
• The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, when your will is registered.
• Ziina, to process your payment.
• Our technology providers, who host the website and store data on our behalf: Vercel (website hosting) and Neon (database, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany).
• Authorities, where the law requires us to.

Everyone we share information with may use it only to provide their part of the service and must keep it secure.

5. Storage outside the UAE

Some of our technology providers store data outside the UAE, including in the European Union and the United States. Where this happens, we rely on providers that maintain strong security and data protection standards, as permitted by UAE data protection law.

6. How long we keep it

A will may be needed many years after it is made, so we keep your will and the information used to prepare it for as long as it may be needed by you or your executors, unless you ask us to delete it. We keep payment and accounting records for as long as the law requires. If you start but don’t complete an order, we delete the information within 12 months.

7. How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit and stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. Access is limited to the people who need it to deliver your will.

8. Your rights

Subject to the conditions in UAE law, you can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• delete your information, unless we must keep it by law;
• restrict or stop certain uses of your information;
• send your information to you or another provider in a usable format; or
• withdraw your consent. This won’t affect work already done, but we may be unable to continue with your will.

To make a request, email hello@emirateswills.ae. We will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UAE Data Office.

9. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email.
